Costco Christmas lights and outdoor decorations in Canada (2026): prices, clearance and safety

Costco Christmas lights in Canada cost $24.99 for two Sylvania LED sets, $29.99 for two 400-light micro sets, and $129.99 to $399.99 for Govee app-controlled lights. The outdoor decor (lit wreaths, garland, deer, polar bears and a 6 ft nutcracker) runs from $49.99 to $359.99. It arrives from late August, gets small savings in November and goes on clearance from about December 8.

What Christmas lights does Costco Canada sell?

The lights on Canadian shelves over the last two holiday seasons, with the lowest price each reached (West means BC to Manitoba, East means Ontario and the Atlantic provinces):

The Sylvania two-packs are the everyday choice: C9 are the big classic bulbs for roof lines and railings, C6 smaller bulbs for shrubs and trees, and micro sets the fine lights for wrapping branches. The Govee lights are controlled from a phone app with colours and effects; the 45 m outdoor set is the permanent-style eaves kit and never went on sale in our records (Costco West, Costco East).

What outdoor Christmas decorations does Costco have in 2026?

Most of the 2026 pieces are new: the polar bears, the deer family, the snowflake, the red bow and the infinity-mirror lawn stakes (Costco West, Costco East). East prices run $5 to $10 higher on some, like the deer family at $269.99. We found no Christmas inflatables in Canadian warehouses in 2024 to 2026. Check the box for an outdoor rating: only the nutcracker's tag says indoor or outdoor.

When do Costco Christmas lights go on sale?

• Late August to October: the first pieces arrive, the full range by mid-October.
• November: small savings, like $5 off the Sylvania sets between November 14 and 23, 2025 (Costco West, Costco East) and $30 off the Govee 2S several times (Costco West).
• From about December 8: clearance at prices ending in .97 on figures and wreaths, deeper by Christmas: the C6 lights went from $16.97 on December 16 to $9.97 on December 23, 2024 (Costco West, Costco West).

So buy what you want to put up this year by early December, and buy for next year in the last two weeks before Christmas, if your warehouse still has it. Very little lighting is left after Christmas.

How do you put up outdoor Christmas lights safely?

Health Canada's holiday safety tips (Health Canada):

• "Use lights that have the mark of an accredited certification agency, such as CSA, cUL or cETL."
• Light strings and lighted decorations "are rated for either indoor or outdoor use": keep indoor ones inside.
• "Turn off holiday lights, lighted decorations, pre-lit trees and decorations before you go to bed or leave your home."

Ontario's Electrical Safety Authority adds: "Only use decorations and extensions cords certified for outdoor use," and "Always use an outlet protected by a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) to plug in outdoor decorations" (ESA). Technical Safety BC explains the labels: "Green labels mean the product is suitable for outdoor use, while red labels mean the lights are for indoor use only" (Technical Safety BC). How many sets you can join end to end is printed on the box or the plug; don't go past it. A timer or Costco's outdoor smart plugs ($19.99 for two) switch them off for you.

Can someone put up your Christmas lights and decorations?

Yes, at ground level. An independent local helper can unpack and test your lights, set up the figures and wreaths, and hang porch, railing and shrub lights: Christmas setup is $79 for one artificial tree, with porch and shrub lights at ground level $49 more and indoor decorating $39 an hour, at Flatcart's set prices. Taking it all down and packing it away in January is $59. Roof lines and anything that needs a tall ladder outside are not included: for those, hire a lighting company with insurance.
