Costco Christmas tree in Canada (2026): sizes, prices, the Grinch tree and when they go on sale

The Costco Christmas tree for 2026 is already in Canadian warehouses: the 7.5 ft pre-lit tree is $549.99, $50 more than last year, a new 6.5 ft tree is $299.99, and the whimsical tree people call the Costco Grinch tree is $99.99. Prices below are from shelf photos in Western Canada (Costco West) and Ontario and Atlantic Canada (Costco East), dated. Our advice: buy early for the size you want, because Costco cuts its biggest trees only in December, when stock is thin.

What Christmas trees does Costco Canada sell in 2026?

Here's what had reached Canadian warehouses by mid-October 2026, next to last year's lineup:

The 2026 7.5 ft tree carries the same Costco item number as last year's, which had 1,850 colour-changing micro LED lights with 11 light modes, Narcity reported. Last year the 9 ft tree appeared on September 29 and the 12 ft by late September in Western Canada, so they may still arrive. Costco's CEO said in September 2025 that the company had "thinned down" its Christmas tree range, so expect fewer sizes than a few years ago.

Is the Costco Christmas tree worth it?

The 7.5 ft tree is a fair buy if you want a full, pre-lit tree with lights that change colour, and you'd use it for years: at $549.99 it costs about $73 a foot. The new 6.5 ft tree at $299.99 is the value pick for smaller rooms, about $46 a foot with fewer lights (700). Check the box for the light count, the plug-in connector between sections and the stand before you choose; and keep the receipt, since you can return it.

Bring help and a vehicle that fits it: the boxes are long and heavy. Costco sold a tree storage bag for trees up to 9 ft at $39.99 last year.

Does Costco Canada have the Grinch tree?

Yes, in the form Canada gets it: the whimsical tree, 6 ft (1.8 m) with 150 LED lights, at $99.99. It's a curved, Seussian tree with a single red ornament, and it reached Ontario and Atlantic warehouses on August 21 to 23, 2026 and Western Canada in early September. The 4.5 ft "Grinch tree" at $69.99 that U.S. sites show is a different product and isn't what Canadian warehouses carry. We found no sell-out date or clearance price for it last year, so if you want one, don't wait for December.

When do Costco Christmas trees go on sale?

In December, in two steps. Last year:

Dollar-off promotions run through early December, and prices ending in .97 (clearance, varying by warehouse) start around December 15. The catch is stock: by then many warehouses have sold their trees. If you buy earlier and Costco cuts the price within 30 days, the membership counter refunds the difference while the sale runs and the item is in stock; see Costco price adjustments. Buy on or after about November 15 and a mid-December cut is still within reach.

What Christmas lights does Costco sell?

Mostly two-packs of LED sets, plus app-controlled Govee lights:

Lit wreaths and garland are in warehouses too: in Western Canada in October 2026, a 30-inch 50-LED wreath was $59.99, a 9 ft 100-LED garland $69.99 and a 48-inch lit red bow $129.99. Not keen on the ladder? A local helper can hang lights and garland as part of Christmas setup and takedown.

Does Costco sell real Christmas trees in Canada?

Not that we could find: no Canadian fan blog or news report showed fresh-cut trees in Canadian warehouses in 2025 or 2026; the fresh-tree stories online are from U.S. warehouses. Costco did sell a 28-inch live wreath with LED lights for $39.99 in Western Canada in November 2025, and potted poinsettias ($23.99) and Christmas cactus ($19.99).

LEGO, Lindt and wine advent calendars are in warehouses too; see which Costco advent calendars are out and when they go on clearance.

Can you return a Costco Christmas tree?

Yes. Christmas trees and decor aren't on Costco's 90-day list for electronics and major appliances, so the usual satisfaction guarantee applies, with no set time limit; see what Costco limits to 90 days. If a section of lights fails next year, start with the receipt at the membership counter. We couldn't confirm a manufacturer's warranty for Costco Canada's trees. Shopping on Christmas Eve?
