TV mounting service in Canada

A TV mounting service puts your TV on the wall, level and fixed into the studs, and usually tidies the cables and sets up the TV, sound bar and streaming box. In Canada a standard install costs about $120 to $250, $170 on average, according to Bark's Canadian price guide, and the wall mount itself is usually extra. Flatcart connects Costco shoppers with independent local installers, and requests are free.

Moving or adding an electrical outlet behind the TV needs a licensed electrician.

How much does TV mounting cost in Canada?

Bark's average price for TV mounting, by province (the guide is undated, and each installer sets their own price):

ProvinceAverage price
British Columbia$175
Alberta$160
Saskatchewan$185
Manitoba$180
Ontario$170
Quebec$160
New Brunswick$175
Nova Scotia$160
Newfoundland$170

Expect to pay more for brick, stone or concrete walls, which take more labour, for hiding cables inside the wall, and for very large TVs. The mount is usually separate: Costco carried an AVF full-motion mount for 32- to 100-inch TVs at $129.99 in October 2026. Before you book, ask for one price that covers the mount, your wall type, cable hiding and taking the boxes away.

What does a TV mounting service include?

  • Finding the studs and fixing the mount to them, or to masonry with the right anchors
  • Hanging the TV and levelling it at the height you want
  • Tidying the cables with a cord cover, or inside the wall where the wall allows it
  • Connecting and setting up the TV, sound bar and streaming box
  • Taking away the boxes and packing, if you ask

Does Costco mount TVs?

No. Costco.ca includes standard shipping on TVs and delivers sets of 65 inches and larger to the room of your choice, but that delivery doesn't include wall mounting or setup; see what comes with a Costco TV. Costco does give you a 2-year warranty and 90 days to return a TV, so get it on the wall and working well inside those 90 days. If the box won't fit in your car, an independent helper can do a Costco pickup and delivery and mount it on the same visit.

Which wall mount do you need?

  • Fixed: the flattest and cheapest, for a TV at eye level that you watch straight on.
  • Tilting: angles the screen down, for a TV mounted higher on the wall.
  • Full-motion: pulls out and swivels, for corners or rooms you watch from more than one spot. It puts the most load on the wall, so it needs the strongest fixing.

Check two things on your TV before you buy a mount: the VESA pattern (the spacing of the screw holes on the back, such as 400 x 400) and the TV's weight. The mount's box should list both. Costco also sells sound bars to go under the TV; see TV stands, mounts and sound bars at Costco.

Can you mount a TV over a fireplace?

You can, but it's often not the best spot. It puts the screen above eye level, and the wall above some fireplaces gets warm. Check the TV maker's manual for temperature limits and the fireplace manual for clearances, and expect a higher price on brick or stone.

How do you choose a TV mounting installer?

  • Ask whether they carry liability insurance, in case the wall or the TV is damaged.
  • Agree one price that covers the mount, your wall type, cable hiding and take-away.
  • Ask how they find the studs, or what anchors they use on masonry.
  • Keep the TV box until the TV is up and working, in case you return it within Costco's 90 days.
