Costco installs tires you bought there at no charge, but you still have to get the car to the Tire Centre and wait. With car pickup, an independent local driver collects your vehicle, takes it to the appointment you booked, waits while Costco does the work and brings it back. Flatcart is launching independent local help in BC, Alberta and Ontario, and requests are free.
The provider only drives your vehicle; Costco does the tire work. You book the appointment yourself, authorize the driver in writing, and confirm their licence and insurance cover driving your car. Flatcart does not employ drivers.

How does Costco tire appointment car pickup work?
1. You book the appointment at costcotireappointments.ca, as usual; see how to book a Costco tire appointment. 2. You send a request on Flatcart with the date, time and warehouse. 3. A local driver agrees a price with you, picks the car up before the appointment and drives it to the Tire Centre. 4. Costco does the work, under your membership and your order. 5. The driver brings the car back, with the paperwork Costco gives at checkout.
If you ordered your tires on Costco.ca, they ship to the Tire Centre in 5 to 10 business days and you get an email when they arrive; book the appointment and the pickup after that email.
What should you sort out before a driver takes your car?
- Write it down: give the driver written permission to drive the car and to deal with the Tire Centre for you, with the appointment details.
- Insurance: check with your insurer that someone else driving your car is covered, and ask the driver about their licence and insurance. Flatcart checks a valid Canadian driver's licence before a provider profile goes live; while we're launching and introduce helpers by email, ask to see the driver's licence and insurance yourself.
- Payment and membership: ask your Tire Centre how they want to handle payment and your membership card when you're not there, and settle it before the day.
- Wheel locks: if your wheels have locking nuts, leave the key in the car.
- Photos: take a few of the car before it leaves, for both of you.
Is it worth it?
It depends on your time. A changeover appointment is a few hours of your day once you count driving, waiting and getting back, twice a year.
