Costco gas in Canada: hours, payment and who can fill up

What are Costco gas station hours?

These are the hours Costco.ca lists for its Canadian gas stations, checked October 1, 2026: three hours before the warehouse opens and an hour or more after it closes. Do you need a Costco membership to buy gas?

Yes. Costco gas stations follow the same rule as the warehouse: Costco's membership conditions say no sales are made to anyone without a valid membership card, and you need your membership card at the pump.

How do you pay at a Costco gas station?

Costco lists three payment methods at its gas stations:

• Mastercard (any issuer)
• Debit
• A physical Costco Shop Card, loaded with $50 to $2,000 (digital Shop Cards don't work at the pump; see how the Shop Card works)

Cash is not accepted. Visa and American Express are not accepted at Costco in Canada either; see our guide to the Costco Mastercard.

How much cheaper is Costco gas?

It depends on the station and the day: Costco sets prices locally, and we don't show a national average because one number would mislead most readers. The math to run yourself is simple:

A Gold Star membership costs $65 a year, so at 50 fills a year you need Costco to be about 2.2 cents a litre cheaper before gas alone covers the fee. Add the card's 3% and the gap you need shrinks further.

Which credit card should you use for Costco gas?

The CIBC Costco Mastercard pays 3% at Costco gas stations, the highest rate it offers, with no annual fee. On $3,000 of Costco gas a year that is $90 back. The Executive 2% reward does not help here: Costco excludes gas station purchases from it.

Do all Costco warehouses have a gas station?

No, but most do. As of October 1, 2026, Costco.ca lists a gas station at 84 of Canada's 104 regular warehouses and at 3 of the 9 Business Centres (West Edmonton, East Gwillimbury and Anjou).
